Testimonials

"He is a champion for education."

I've known Kirk now for 20 years. At the time he was with NCDOR and co-instructed the first property tax course I took in Hendersonville, NC and I've taken many more with him over the years. His desire to learn, teach and understand is unparalleled. He is a champion for education. We are all very fortunate to have him as a friend and colleague in his role at the School of Government. Many of the things we have been able to accomplish as an association would not have occurred without Kirk's involvement. In my opinion, there is no one more willing and capable of providing sound leadership and direction for our organization and ultimately our profession by his service on the IAAO Executive Board.

"His leadership inspires others to strive for excellence."

Kirk is an exceptional property tax leader and educator, combining strategic vision with the ability to clearly communicate complex assessment and valuation concepts. His leadership inspires others to strive for excellence. His teaching style makes even the most technical topics approachable and practical. With a wealth of experience, Kirk is able to bridge the gap between policy, compliance, and day-to-day operations, empowering others to succeed.  Kirk consistently demonstrates integrity, expertise, and a commitment to advancing best practices in property taxation.  I would certainly want to see him at the forefront of the IAAO as a Board Member!

"He never fails to respond when a local assessment office asks for advice."

I have known Kirk since 1992, when he joined the North Carolina Department of Revenue Ad Valorem Tax Division. Kirk has grown through the years as a practitioner and IAAO Instructor. He is a welcome speaker and lecturer at state conferences. He never fails to respond when a local assessment office asks for advice. I worked side-by-side with Kirk in the development of the North Carolina Tag and Tax Together project, which combined vehicle registrations and property taxes into a single transaction. Kirk has for many years dedicated himself to the education of assessment professionals and the improvement of the assessment process.

"He is humble, thoughtful, caring, and brilliant. "

Kirk is a treasured colleague and friend. I value his wisdom on personal issues as much as I do on tax issues.  He is humble, thoughtful, caring, and brilliant.  It’s been an honor to serve the state alongside Kirk for the past 10 years.

A note from the campaign

On behalf of the campaign, I want to sincerely thank the NCAAO IAAO Affiliation Committee for their support and encouragement throughout this process. Your work to promote engagement and strengthen our professional community makes a real difference, and we are grateful for your partnership.

On a personal note, I want to share how much Kirk Boone has shaped my own career. From the first IAAO course I attended under his instruction, he has been both a mentor and role model. His guidance, generosity, and encouragement were instrumental in my pursuit of professional designations and in my development as an IAAO instructor. Many of the opportunities I have had in this profession can be traced back to his investment in my growth.

To our visitors and colleagues, thank you for taking the time to learn more about Kirk and his vision for IAAO. We hope you will consider the impact he has made on individuals, on our state, and on our profession as a whole. Please cast your vote for Kirk Boone for the IAAO Board of Directors for Region 3. Your support ensures continued leadership built on service, mentorship, and innovation.

With gratitude,

Chelsie Cornelius, PPS, AAS
